When I talk about a microcar or a tiny car, the car that comes to my mind is the early BMW Isetta & the not-so-early TATA Nano. The smallest-sized car is termed a microcar. However, not many microcars are available these days. There are some reasons for the unavailability of these cars. India is a growing economy where a car is a need more than luxury. And the price of a microcar is high comparatively because the size of the car is limited for two occupants. Although, TATA Nano was India’s first 4 seater microcar. But it failed because of some reasons. But still, this is the segment that has to be explored. Mounting of engine and safety measures are the two points that auto designers have to crack before manufacturing a microcar.
